Brow Lift

Signs of aging in the face are usually caused by a loosening of the tissues and muscles around the eyes which cause frown lines or drooping of the eyebrows or eyelids.  These signs of aging sometimes make a person look angry, anxious, or sad. A brow lift with Kenneth Sanders Facial Plastic Surgery is popular with patients from Shreveport, Bossier, and the rest of Northern Louisiana because it improves their facial appearance and restores a smoother and youthful surface on the upper third of the face.

A brow lift aims to correct the eyebrow’s shape and reduce horizontal wrinkles or furrows in the skin. It minimizes the creases developing across the forehead or occurring high on the nose bridge. Often, Dr. Sanders performs a brow lift in conjunction with other facial procedures so you achieve the best result and appearance.

Brow Lift Candidates

The average age of a patient undergoing a brow lift is between 40 and 60 years. Dr. Sanders can perform it on a younger patients for reasons such as deep frown lines caused by stress, those who inherited very low and heavy brows, and prematurely aged skin due to sun exposure or heavy smoking.

Brow Lift Results

The normal result of a brow lift is a more youthful, rejuvenated facial appearance. The forehead may look less creased or wrinkled. Depending on your age and skin condition, the effects of the procedure may last for five to 10 years.

Endoscopic Brow Lift

This type is done with three to five short scalp incisions, each less than an inch long. Then, an endoscope is inserted through one of the incisions to allow Dr. Sanders to see the muscle and tissue below. In a second incision, another instrument can be inserted that may lift the forehead skin. All the incisions are hidden in the hair bearing scalp so there's no visible scarring.  Note that no hair is cut or shaved.  The excess tissue and fat are removed, and the muscles are realigned. Also, the eyebrows may be repositioned at a higher level.  We use something called  an endotine to fixate the brow tissue while it heals then this "implant" dissolves.

At the Consultation

Dr. Sanders  may ask you to frown, smile, and make a variety of other facial expressions to observe your facial muscle activity. A blepharoplasty (eyelid lift)  might also be recommended depending on the amount of excess skin in your upper eyelid, height of your hairline, and the relative position of the eyebrows.  Dr. Sanders believes in restoring the brow of your youth.  He does this by looking at old photos etc. to determine what the height and shape of your brow should be.
